Please Note:
Although most people would call this a roving, it is in fact called Top.
The difference is the process it has gone through and the purpose it serves.
A Top has been carded and then combed to make all the fibers smooth and parallel. Wool Top is perfect for worsted or semi worsted spinning.
A Roving on the other hand has been taken from a carded batt (a blanket of interlocked and naturally crimped fiber) and not combed, and then pulled through a small hole in order to make a long continuous cord. A Roving is best for woolen spinning.

I reviewed many options for a beginners felting kit for my daughter as part of our homeschool curriculum. She is so excited to have a rainbow of colors and multiple options for creation, with the multiple and single needles I ordered. She’s grateful for the leather finger gloves as well!

When I got this box I was so pleased with the colors! They are rich and deeply dyed. The merino wool is scrumptious! For felting they are great to use over core wool or by hand mixing a little bit you can felt them. They are great trim for feathers, manes, tails. Jennifer was really responsive to questions I had. I will be purchasing lots of items in the future fro A&Ts!

I received this small beginner’s kit and my husband also ordered the large beginner’s kit for me. I’ve used them both and the items included make it so easy for the beginner felter. I’ve made a few small items and look forward to making more and graduate to larger items as I gain experience.

I just started getting into needle felting and this set has everything I needed. I have a few different felting mats, but the one in the set is my favorite. There are quite generous amounts of wool, enough for several projects. (I would suggest buying some core wool in addition to this, for both practice and for making the main parts of your project, so you can save the pretty wool for the surfaces!) I'm still learning, and am having so much fun doing it! I will definitely be buying more sets in different colors.
